Mother's Day

A Mother’s Day Tradition

My sisters and I have a fun Mother’s Day tradition to honor our mom and to celebrate our sisterhood and our family.

Mom was almost 41 years old when I was born, so I only got to spend 31 years with her.  I wish I would’ve had her here with me longer.   Even so, I know I’m very blessed to have had my wonderful mother for as long as I did.  But I miss her every day and especially on Mother’s Day.

The most remarkable thing about my mom was her love and acceptance of others.  She was tolerant and understanding and always kind to everyone.  Mom was the most unselfish and altruistic person I’ve ever known.

Remembering Mom on Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day my sisters and I each thoughtfully choose gifts for each other. Then we purchase a beautiful bouquet with ribbons that say “Mother” and “Grandmother” to take to the cemetery for our mom.  While we’re there we exchange our gifts

In this photo we’d just been joking about who had to stand in front in the photo. Sister #2 had just given the other three of us these umbrellas for our gift so we came up with the funny solution of hiding behind them. That’s why we’re all laughing!!

My three older sisters all have kind hearts just like our mom and the four of us are good friends.  We get together for breakfast every Sunday and for dinner every Thursday, on holidays and special occasions and sometimes just because.  Of all our get-togethers, Moth er’s Day is one of my favorites!  It’s the perfect celebration to honor Motherhood, our Sisterhood and most of all our own Wonderful Mother!

I think it’s lovely you and your sisters spend Mother’s Day like this. I still have my mother but I’d like to think my brothers and I would do something like this in her honor when the day comes. Y’all sure know how to turn those lemons into lemonade!

How lovely to have your sisters to share your Mother’s day memories of your Mum. My Mum passed away 30 years ago from breast cancer so each year my daughter and I run the Mother’s Day Classic in memory of her. Thank you for sharing with us at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty, I’m sharing
