Back to School Books

I love, love, LOVE children’s books and Back to School Books are some of my fayvories!  We usually think of Back to School as a fun and exciting time, but lots of times kids are afraid or nervous about starting a new school year.  When I took my daughter to her second grade class she burst into tears and broke my heart!  My sister has a grandaugter in middle school who recently sent her a text that read, “Why does school have to start?!” and was followed by frowning, mad and crying emojis.

Lots of teachers like to read stories at the beginning of a new year to help students feel better about the challenges ahead of them.  It’s also a great idea for parents to help ease their kids’ fears by reading them stories where the characters face the same uncertainties and find positive ways to get through them.

The collection below has books that students, parents and teachers are sure to love!  The first two books are some of my all time favorites and when I had a small private school I would read them at Back to School Night!  They both have surprise endings that are so much fun!!!

First Day Jitters is such a great book to start off the year. And to talk about point of view and perspective. Love it! Not familiar with a couple of the books on your list so pinning your graphic and going to look for them in the elementary library where I am subbing right now.
