My Shadow Walks in the Same Feet I Do!

If you have never experienced the wonder of watching a child discover his shadow for the very first time, you’re missing out on a delightful experience!

On a recent sunny day my two daughters and I were taking the children from our preschool on a walk to the park. As we were walking along, all of a sudden my grandson (Little G-2) exclaims with excitement, “My shadow walks in the same feet I do!!” as he stares at where his feet meet his shadow. He was clearly very amazed at this truly remarkable wonder he had just discovered.

I had him stop so I could take a picture of him and his shadow. He stopped and stared intently down at his feet for a moment before looking up with an exaggerated grin and shouting,
“Cheeeese!”

While we stopped to take the picture the others had gotten way ahead of us. I told G-2 to hurry and catch up with his Auntie Tara. He took off running, again looking down at his shadow, and then with amazement and delight in his voice, he begins to shout, “Hey guys! My shadow can run! My shadow can run!!”
