Choosing Happiness – Introduction to My fb Page

This post is an introduction to my facebook page, Choosing Happiness.  It is a page to inspire positive thinking, contented living, to encourage people in every circumstance, to find the good & “Purpose to be Happy!” Being happy is something I have had to work at all of my life. I believe the reasons behind that are partially genetic but also largely learned habits. The fact that I was a pampered child seems to have played a part as well….

Never Sneak Out While Baby Is Distracted!

Separation Anxiety Loving parents don’t wnat their kids to be upset, that’s a given.   Lots of kids have separation anxiety, so I guess that’s the reason so many parents who are leaving their children with a sitter sneak out when the little ones aren’t looking. Sometimes we forget there that just because we can’t see them, doesn’t mean that they aren’t upset.   Inevitably your little one will discover you are gone and become upset when they realize it….

Me Time!

Everyone deserves some “Me Time” once in a while.  But, if you’re a mom it‘s probably a very rare moment indeed when you find yourself alone with nothing you have to do.  It’s important to make a point of arranging time for yourself.  You’ll be a happier, more productive person if you do,  So, plan a night when your hubby will be away and send the kids to a sleepover at a friend’s house or to grandma’s house for the…

Pinterest Project – Nailed It!

We’ve all seen the funny photos that have a beautiful project from Pinterest on one side and on the other side is a photo of someone’s attempt to make the same project, but their attempt was an epic fail.  The caption usually says something sarcastic like, “Nailed it!” Well G-2 was talking about jet packs while he was playing the other day. I said to him, “did you know we can make a jet pack?”  He was all for making…

The Big Black Rocking Chair

When I was a very little girl, my family had a big black rocking chair in our living room.  I don’t remember much about any of the other furniture in our living room from way back then, but I remember that big black rocking chair very well.  When I had a hard time falling asleep my daddy would rock me in that rocking chair and sing songs to me. He would sing Rock-a-Bye Baby, I’m Looking Over a Four Leaf…

Bridal Photographer for a Day

When my youngest daughter got married, to save money we decided to do a lot of the work ourselves.  We had planned and shopped and put together all of the invitations, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces, decorations, wedding favors,  attendant gifts, the hair and makeup for all of the bridesmaids, the cake, etc.  It was a lot of fun but also a lot of work and sometimes it was a little stressful.  The food and dresses were done by professionals and…

Critters in the Garden

One day a few years ago, I found a water snake in my garden pond. It just happened to be about two weeks after my teenage son Mike lost his pet corn snake in our house. It was such a surprise!  At first I thought it was my son’s snake (we never did find that one) but upon closer examination I realized it wasn’t.  I ran inside all excited and rallied my husband and sons outside to witness the surprise…

Family Breakfasts at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Every Sunday morning, my four older sisters and I, and our spouses, go out to breakfast and we’ve been doing it for a good number of years now. Most of the time, we go to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. We started the tradition when our dad became elderly. It was a great way for us to spend time with him as well as to get him out of the house for an enjoyable time. So originally, it was my…
