Reindeer T-Shirts with Footprints & Handprints

Here’s a super fun Christmas project to do with the kids! It’s a reindeer made from a footprint, hand prints and a thumb print.
Here’s what you need:
- Red T-Shirts (we used long sleeve since the weather is cold this time of year).
- Acrylic Fabric Paints – Brown
- Acrylic Fabric Paint – White
- Acrylic Fabric Paint – Tan (or mix brown & white)
- Acrylic Fabric Paint – Black (a bottle with a narrow tip)
- Acrylic Fabric Paint – Glitter Red
- Paintbrushes
- Cardboard or Cardstock
Directions:
- Place the cardboard or cardstock between the front and back sides of the t-shirt so that your paint will not bleed onto the back of the shirt.
- Make sure your child’s hands and feet are clean.
- Paint their left foot with the brown paint.
- Press the painted foot straight down onto the shirt being careful not to create any smudges.
- Apply even pressure.
- Lift foot straight up from the shirt being careful not to create any smudges.
- Clean foot so that paint won’t be accidentally smudged onto the shirt or your work space.
- Paint child’s left hand with the tan paint.
- Press the painted hand straight down onto the shirt just above the toe prints, being careful not to create any smudges.
- Apply even pressure.
- Lift hand straight up from the shirt being careful not to create any smudges.
- Clean the foot so that paint won’t be accidentally smudged onto the shirt or your work space.
- Repeat steps 8 – 12 with the child’s right hand
- Repeat steps 8-12 using black paint on the child’s thumb and pressing it down onto the very end of the heal print.
- Using a paintbrush fill in the prints as needed to make the prints dark enough to show up well on the t-shirt. Be careful not to completely paint over the “print look” of the prints you’ve made on the shirt.
- Allow paint to dry.
- Paint two white circles with smaller black circles inside for eyes.
- I outlined the footprint with the narrow tipped black paint to give it a more defined look.
- Using the narrow tipped black paint give your reindeer a mouth.
- Finally, using the glitter red fabric paint, give your reindeer a rosy cheek.
- Allow to dry.
- Remove cardboard for inside the shirt.
- Dress your little darlin’ and let them show off their fun new Reindeer T-Shirt!

It would be so fun to see the different sized reindeer for each of the family members!

Thank you! I may be a bit bias, but I think they’re kind of cute too.
